Beth Krebs: Same Boat
Beth Krebs' work champions faith against the odds. This faith that a more humane world is possible is frequently challenged by evidence to the contrary. Her installations, videos, sculptures, and participatory projects present humans as alternately tender and absurd. Flags and bunting have appeared in previous projects, cheering efforts to keep going or critiquing the empty promises of rampant consumerism. “Same Boat” is both a reflection of her experience as a twin and a call to recognize how interdependent we are. Krebs made the first in this series of double flags as part of a collective project with Real Time and Space in 2020. A graduate of the MFA program at Rutgers University, Krebs has exhibited her work at venues including Smack Mellon, Mixed Greens, Station Independent Projects, the Bronx Museum, the Cue Foundation, Recology San Francisco, and the San Jose Institute for Contemporary Art. Still relatively new to the west coast of the US from New York, she’s enthralled with the plant life and thrilled to live in proximity to marine mammals. Learn more about Krebs and her work here.
