Kat Geng: What Mask Set
Fabric face coverings made from 100% cotton. Choose between small, medium and large size, and elastic straps that go over your head or loop around your ears. Printed, cut and sewn in San Francisco. Mask set contains two masks. The print varies and each mask is a unique portion of the larger palette print. We are not able to select specific colors-- two masks will be chosen at random and the images shown here are examples of the variations. Don't worry they are all excellent :)
Sculptor and Latinx visual artist Kat Geng (b. Bogotá, Colombia, based in Brooklyn, NY) embraces well worn and brand new materials to reimagine objects with renewed purpose. With equal esteem for the serious and the playful, Geng explores issues surrounding transnational identity, language, loss, connection, and family through a blend of mixed-media assemblage and puppet making. Pairing objects sourced from Bogotá, Brooklyn, the Bay Area, and the Berkshires with language appropriated from comics, Geng's most recent solo exhibition, "Igual Que Yo / Same As Me," opened at Oakland's NIAD Art Center in 2019. After earning a B.A. in Art History from Bard College, she trained in art conservation at the Williamstown Art Conservation Center at the Clark Art Institute in Massachusetts. Geng is a 2021 recipient of The Bronx Museum of the Arts (AIM) Emerging Artist Fellowship and a 2021 Anderson Ranch Arts Center Fellowship. She is currently sewing, outfitting and filming a puppet cast, her latest exploration in visual storytelling.

- Made from two layers of a tight weave 100% cotton.
- Size info and photos here. Masks will shrink a bit in the first wash.
- Please wash and dry masks before using, and wash and dry, or thoroughly steam iron them between uses. Print will fade with repeated washing. We recommend washing masks in a mesh bag as you would wash delicates, or hand wash and hang to dry to prolong the lifespan as the elastic straps can get caught in washing machines.
- Masks have a wire nose bridge which helps keep the top part of the mask snug to the nose. Adjust this by gently bending the wire to fit your face/nose.
