Returns and exchanges
All sales are final. We do not accept returns or exchanges.

Shipping methods
We ship most domestic orders by USPS Priority Mail or FedEx Ground. Most international orders ship by FedEx International Economy, DHL, or USPS International, depending on the destination and the best available service.

Tracking and delivery dates
We will email you a tracking number once your package has been shipped. We do our best to ship orders promptly, but we cannot guarantee delivery dates. If you need your order by a specific date, please email us before placing your order so we can confirm whether it is possible.

Lost, stolen, or delayed packages
Once we give your package to the shipping carrier and send you the tracking number, Open Editions is no longer responsible for lost, stolen, misdelivered, or delayed packages. Please contact the shipping carrier directly with any delivery issues.

Package lockers, mailrooms, and delivery instructions
Many shipping carriers do not reliably use package lockers, locked mailrooms, or special delivery instructions, even when those instructions are included with the order. Open Editions is not responsible for issues related to carrier access, package lockers, mailrooms, or special delivery instructions. Please contact the carrier directly if a delivery problem occurs.

International orders, duties, and taxes
International orders are shipped Delivered at Place, also known as DAP or Delivered Duty Unpaid, DDU. This means Open Editions is responsible for shipping the order, but the customer is responsible for any import costs charged upon delivery, including VAT, duties, taxes, customs fees, brokerage fees, or carrier collection fees. These charges are not included in the product or shipping price paid at checkout.

Combined shipments
If you place multiple orders shipping to the same address within a few days, we may combine them into one shipment when possible.

Shipping cost adjustments or cancellations
We use estimated flat-rate shipping costs because they usually help keep shipping charges lower for customers. Occasionally, the actual shipping cost to a specific location is much higher than expected. If the shipping cost is too high for us to fulfill the order, we may cancel the order, email you with an explanation, and refund the full amount to your original payment method.
