POINTILLISTS employed small, distinct dots of pure color to create vibrant and luminous compositions. Pioneered in France in the late nineteenth century, the technique aimed to achieve optical color mixing and heighten the views perception of light and form. The movement left a lasting influence of the development of modern art.
