Mary Elizabeth Yarbrough / Lexicon 41

$ 350.00

In Mary Elizabeth's words:

"The Lexicon series is made with colored acrylic pieces inlaid in white acrylic panel. Each has a different narrative, though the stories are open-ended.  In this work I'm considering limitations of spoken language, using symbols as proxies for concepts or feelings. The pictures conjure up a viewer’s own connotations and relationships to that thing, and viewers’ varied experiences inform how the narrative is changed. Each composition is a ground from which to make meaning. They are inspired in part by children’s classroom teaching tools, pictograms, the game Memory and emojis."

  • Inlaid acrylic, framed, 8" x 10"
  • Each image is an edition of five.
